Create a new story

Once upon a time…

When you were little, did you love stories that began with “Once upon a time in a faraway land…”? Did you cuddle up and wonder what magical things would happen in the story?

That playful, open-to-something-magical feeling is the perfect approach to creating some new stories about your life – and maybe even the life of our planet.

That brings me to Lena Stevens (www.thepowerpath.com). Among other gifts, Lena publishes a forecast about the global and cosmic energies that are around us in the coming month.

Her headline this month was, “Time for a New Story.” She had my attention.

Lena says, “The demands of this time require an interactive relationship between  yourself and your story. In order to change it, you will need to step up your relationship with spirit, your guides and allies, and your authentic self.”.

I’m making it a project to delve more deeply into stories I’ve told myself about some parts of my life, and create new stories I would prefer.

Questions to inform the shape of your new story

I’m shamelessly quoting Lena Stevens here. (Her office has said that’s okay as long as I credit her.)

Lena says, “The best approach to a new story is to ask the questions that will open up the dialogue.

·      What and whom do you serve in this life?

·      What do you fear?

·      How are you supported?

·      What truly makes you happy?

·      What are the addictions you desire to change?

·      What are the energy leaks in your life?

·      What part of your current story are you truly done with?

·      What are your disappointments, resentments and judgments?

·      Where are you not neutral?

·      What are you not ready or willing to let go of?

·      What are you ready and willing to let go of?

·      What are your past unrealized dreams that are no longer viable?

·      What are your theories?

·      What is your truth?”

With Lena’s suggestions as a kick start, you can probably think of other useful questions. Your answers will help you begin to shape your new story – the one that fits who you are now and who you are choosing to become.

7 steps to create a new story

This process may unfold over a few weeks.

1. Scan your life as a whole (possibly asking the questions above), and notice what part(s) of your life could use a new story. Where are the energy leaks or blockages? What does not fill you with contentment, gratitude or joy? What does fill you with contentment, gratitude and joy?

2. Let go of the old story. Lena says, “…let go of the old story without anger, disappointment or judgment. The more neutral you can be about what is leaving your field, the easier the process.”

You might do a small ceremony to symbolize that you are choosing to release the old story and you re opening space for a new story. As you’re letting go of the old story, be sure to fill the empty space with whatever kind of energy you now prefer to experience.

3. Consider what you want your new story to be. Your heart will know what is right and what you truly want.

4. Open yourself to your intuition, your whispers, your spirit, and the support of divine guides and allies. Turn to these sources of power as you begin to create and live your new story.

5. When, inevitably, you feel resistance, irritation, restlessness or discouragement, just notice and acknowledge. Then channel those energies into productive action. Intentionally tap into energies of gratitude, love, awe and beauty.

6. Find or create an image or object that could symbolize your new story for you. Keep it someplace where you’ll notice it often.

7. Return to your new story at least once a day and think of it, or say it out loud, or imagine experiencing that story. Most important, play with your new story, enjoy it and have fun with it. Relish it!

It’s personal, but can also be global

In addition to shifting our personal stories, humanity has some global stories that could use an uplift. As we shift our personal energies, we have the opportunity to help up-level energies and stories in the world around us.

How about this for a new story?

“Humanity is learning that love is more powerful than fear. More and more, we see examples of kindness, compassion and care for others.”

Or, “More and more people are conscious of our human footprint on the earth, are willing to be involved, and are making a difference in restoring our planet to health. The earth is smiling.”

Have fun playing with creating new stories of your life. If you feel like it, just for fun, create some new earth stories too.

One last thing. I’ve been told that if you write it down, there’s about a 75% greater chance that your new preferred story will become a physical reality, compared to if you think about it but don’t write it down. Just sayin’…   😊
