This workshop was inspired when someone said, “Bonnie, you need to host a workshop to help us know what to do with our sadness.”
Many of us find ourselves reacting with distress about events in the world. At the same time, some of us are also experiencing losses, disappointments and challenges in our own lives.
Yes, there are ways – not to deny or suppress – but to experience, gently, kindly and respectfully, our very real emotions in ways that don’t just immobilize us, but ultimately heal and strengthen us.
But that’s not all at this workshop. We’ll go beyond sadness. We’ll also explore – and experience through meditations, gentle movement and other activities – some other factors that are affecting many of us these days…
…Shifting from “victim” to “manifestor” to “conduit” and beyond
It’s not our imagination. We really are changing. Many of us are experiencing a shift to new phases of our development. Strategies that have served us well for many years aren’t working any more – but what else is there?
There are answers to that question!
…Balancing feminine and masculine within ourselves
It’s not sexist to observe that humanity is bumping into the edges of what can be accomplished through strive/drive, competition, dominance and exploitation. The external world reflects our personal and internal imbalances. After a couple of thousand years, it’s time to rebalance masculine and feminine energy on the planet.
That begins within ourselves.
…Subtle activism
Besides our own growth, most of us want to contribute in some way to the world. When much in the world seems overwhelming or impossible to change, when many destructive circumstances seem beyond our power to influence directly, we can still make a positive difference using more subtle “invisible” methods.
And they’re fun!

About Bonnie: The bestselling author of Transitions: Pathways to the Life and World Your Soul Desires, Bonnie Hutchinson was, for almost thirty years, an award-winning organizational consultant and writer whose work was celebrated in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario by provincial and national professional associations, communities, and provincial and federal government departments.
As she quietly began to infuse her organizational projects with what she was learning in her personal spiritual journey, she stood back in awe at amazing results. Long-standing conflicts were resolved; seeming impossible barriers dissolved and unexpected resources appeared. Projects consistently exceeded expectations.
In the past two years, she’s been in retreat mode, doing much inner work, continued spiritual exploration and a great deal of “nothing-doing” – a practice for which she has learned immense respect! As someone who is especially susceptible to being affected by external energies, and who has known times of black despair, she is delighted to be experiencing new grounds for hope and optimism, and new practices and subtle ways to contribute.
She can hardly wait to share some of this with you during the “Beyond Sadness” workshop.
